C - Science and Technology Discussion Group

This is a new discussion group that will meet informally, once per month, around a table in the Henniker Library. The group will welcome all. No prior knowledge of any particular topic is necessary. The only requirement is a general interest in a variety of topics in science or technology. All participants may take turns, if they wish, selecting the discussion topics for follow-on months. Material to read or view may be shared by all ahead of time to provide background and to stimulate the conversation at each meeting.

Instructor: Curtiss Rude

Curtiss Rude has a BS in Physics from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MS in Electrical Engineering (solid-state physics) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked in the microelectronics industry for IBM in Vermont for 20+ years in various engineering and engineering management roles. His second career was as a high school chemistry and physics teacher for seven years. Upon retirement, he took up astronomy as a hobby. He also plays club chess most weeks. Curtiss and his wife, Suzanne, have two grown daughters and reside in Loudon.
